Australia’s Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS) celebrated 15 years of operations in 2021. A regional alliance in the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS), IMOS is considered a global leader in sustained ocean and coastal observing. IMOS is funded by the federal government through the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS). Working with our partners and the broader marine community IMOS has a reputation for excellence in ocean observations. This is underpinned by efficient and effective operations that deliver impact for stakeholders and end users through uptake into management and policy initiatives that promote the sustainable use of Australia’s marine estate. This talk will outline the strategies employed to build resilience in the IMOS program and ensure that we can continue to provide the high-quality open access data required to manage current and future pressures and threats in the marine environment.
