The Australian Hydrographic Office (AHO) is responsible for providing Australia’s national charting service. HIPP is a commercial acquisition program coordinated by the AHO that undertakes focused hydrographic survey activities. The vision for HIPP is to undertake an efficient, effective and sustainable hydrographic survey, oceanographic and marine geophysical data collection program through a partnership with Industry to deliver a true nation-building effort. This ensures that not only the AHO benefits from HIPP data collection, but the wider scientific community through the collection of multi-disciplinary data.
This presentation will provide an overview on the HydroScheme Industry Partnership Program (HIPP). It will demonstrate how HIPP data provides national benefits and can be used in scientific applications. A case study will be presented on how scientists have used HIPP data to gain an understanding of seabed geomorphology in the Bass Strait area. By providing this information, we hope to better connect HIPP data to scientists to facilitate new research opportunities.
