Rachel Neil
Rachel grew up in a Western Australian farming family, where she learned the value of adopting integrated and sustainable methods in large-scale agriculture. After moving to Townsville in 2018 to pursue her degree in Marine Biology, she began volunteering at the Australian Institute of Marine Science, and developed an interest in coral aquaculture.
She is currently pursuing a PhD at James Cook University, working as part of the Reef Restoration and Adaptation Project at the Australian Institute of Marine Science to investigate the application of co-culture methods in coral aquaculture. She aims to gain both a better understanding of the ecological relationships that underpin co-culture applications, and develop methodologies that may be applied in large-scale aquaculture to increase production of corals and other marine organisms.
