Megan I Saunders
Dr Megan Saunders’ research examines environmental and human drivers of change in coastal marine ecosystems with focus on the science to support effective ecological restoration. She is a Senior Research Scientist in the Sustainable Marine Futures Program at CSIRO Environment (Hobart, Australia), where she holds a Julius Career Award to conduct research into social and environmental drivers of restoration success in marine ecosystems. Her current research includes a portfolio of projects aimed at scaling up coastal and marine restoration, Nature-based Solutions and Blue Carbon in Australia, the Indo-Pacific, Latin America, and globally. She has a PhD in Oceanography from Dalhousie University, Canada and a BSc in Marine Ecology from Simon Fraser University, Canada. She previously held research positions funded by competitive fellowships at the University of Western Australia and the University of Queensland. Dr Saunders’ philosophy is to highlight hopeful and successful elements of conservation practice to inspire people to effect positive change.
