Anna A Ortega
Anna Ortega grew up in the middle of the USA and fell in love with science by studying snapping turtles in northern Michigan at age six. Since then, she's been fortunate enough to research wasps, cyanobacteria, spotted eagle rays, coral disease, and her favourite: sea turtles. She completed her bachelor's degree in Ecology, Evolution, and Biodiversity at The University of Michigan, her master's degree at The University of Western Australia (UWA) in Marine Biological Sciences, and is now continuing her PhD studies in the Mitchell lab at UWA in collaboration with Upwell Turtles to answer knowledge gaps surrounding the conservation management of the imperiled East Pacific leatherback sea turtle population.
